About Thinman Films

Thin Man Films is the production company of British writer-director Mike Leigh, founded by Mike with his late producer Simon Channing Williams in 1989.  With their customary sense of humour, the unconventional company name was intended as a gag about their less-than streamlined figures.

Over twenty years later, Thin Man is still the dedicated production company for Mike’s award-winning work.  It also remains proudly ironic: it is now half-woman, run jointly with Mike’s producer Georgina Lowe.

Support for Thin Man comes from associate producer, Helen Grearson, and head of finance, Bek Leigh.

  • As Thin Man only produces Mike Leigh’s films, it does not accept submissions, treatments or screenplays of any kind. We do not have a development department and our rule is not to read any unsolicited material.
  • Actors can post or email CVs to the office at any time but should note that they will only be looked at when Mike is preparing a new project – before then are simply kept on file. Alternatively, Mike’s casting director is Nina Gold.
  • Unfortunately, our policy is to turn down all requests from students for financial assistance.
  • Press enquiries can be sent via Thin Man or can be shared with Mike’s publicists – Jonathan Rutter at Premier Communications in the UK, Jeff Hill in the USA.
  • Mike is represented by Anthony Jones at United Agents.
